Antony kindly drove up today & I must say it was nice to see so many friendly faces again. We got there for 10am & there did seem to be far fewer people waiting to get in this year as well as the car park looking more empty? There also seemed to be fewer traders?
That said I still thought it was the best show I've been to in a very long time indeed. Fewer people meant I didn't have to employ the Pensnett Elbow Attack whilst going trader to trader & meant I could see & indeed talk to said trader with ease!
There were a few very good looking Waterloo games which I suppose isn't surprising? Other games that caught my eye were a 6mm ACW bash & a fantastic looking United Nations forces in Africa game. Participation wise were Frostgrave, WWI & WWII air as well as Beyond the Gates of Antares run by Rick Priestley.
I bought quite a lot as it happens. The main focus was for Frostgrave, so that meant lots of 28mm Reaper figures from three or so traders. Some really unusual figures & in truth I could have easily have bought many times more than I did! From Adrian's Walls I bought from their 28mm fantasy range the Ruined Battlements set. Kallistra sold me a couple of ready painted 10mm bridges. I bought 2 boxes from KR to store Frostgrave & Star Wars:Armada figures in. To finish my 6mm Colonial Egyptians I bought a command pack from Baccus. Finally I purchased some 28mm fences from Emperor Toad's Emporium who is a new trader who makes some really brilliant looking buildings & terrain at decent prices.
The Bring & Buy & indeed Flea Market were interesting this year & personally I thought both worked quite well?
Overall top notch & nice to see so many varied traders & games for sale. Many traders in shows I've been to for the last couple of years seemed to be selling all the same stuff. Great bargains to be had if you like them, but not much to see if you don't.
