Some of our current membership will remember Mike Seddon from his time as a member of Stourbridge & District Wargamers. I was shocked and saddened to see on the BBC Midlands Today programme tonight that he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer in June and has only a short time to live. He is attempting to raise money for the hospice charity that is helping him and his family at this time, so if anyone wishes to donate I have supplied the link. www.justgiving.com/MikeSeddon/

Very sad news as you say Ashley. Mike was the very first person I spoke to at the club when I turned up 22 years ago.

For those who may be interested, Mike finally lost his battle and passed away on Tuesday 15th September, he raised over £15000 for the hospice. Rest in Peace Mike.

Ash, thank you for the news. I was just looking up old friends and found this post. I'm really sad. I worked with Mike for a few years, introduced him to the club. I can honestly say he was one of very best of friends and a great guy to know.

Hi Mark, Nice to hear from you after so long even under such sad circumstances. I agree with what you said about Mike being good to know, over the years our paths crossed at many of the wargames shows after he moved away from the Stourbridge area, and he always had time for a few words and a catch up. As I said in the original post I was really shocked when I saw Mike on the news, the illness had really taken its toll, I can't imagine how he found the strength and courage to fund raise while so ill. I am certain that he will be greatly missed by many people who had the privilege to know him. Are you still "Over the Pond" or are you back over here ?

Ash, it hit me badly. It took me about a week before it would sink in.
Yes, I still live and work across the pond I'm looking at trying to make a visit early this year. If I do, I would like to come by and say hello to any of the old gang still there.

That's great that you are still at the same old hall, I have lots of good memories from there. I know about the age thing, I hit 50 last year which was a bit difficult to take Say hello to the old gang for me, I hope to come over this year and say hello myself
