Busy weekend this weekend!
Expo was jam packed with people on the Saturday morning, although things did seem to go smoother with getting people into the show, so well done for that. The Bring & Buy was also more organised, but I was still unable to have a look as the queues always seemed quite long? Popular I suppose? Expo has clearly been a victim of its' own success really & needs to spread out (which it will do next year at the NEC!).
Good to see lots of independent companies selling their own wares. Star Wars seemed popular with Imperial Assault, X-Wing & Armada on practically every trade stand. For wargamers GCT Studios (Bushido), Prodos games (Alien v Predator), Otherworld, Crooked Dice, Hawk Wargames & Arcworlde (Fantasy) were some that were present.
Purchases included a 6' x 3' star map for sci fi space ship games. I also bought some more Pulp Figures (as they're fantastic!), Star Wars Armada tokens, Gothic Green Oak board game & some clix figures.
I played Dead of Winter with Antony & some clix chaps which was a fun game with plenty of laughs. I came away at 9:30pm, so it couldn't have been too bad!
Off to Partizan near Newark today with a car full. Only an hour & a half from Tividale which was pretty decent. They have changed the layout of the show from my last visit some years ago & early on it was just so busy you couldn't move. Down mainly to a poor layout with trade stands & tables crammed right on top of each other with only inches to get past. Thankfully the show is moving next year to the other side of Newark which is good to know. The rooms are so dark that you generally need a torch (one chap even bought one with him to look at the figures!).
Some good games on show though & it was a pity the lighting wasn't better. A Very British Civil War, WWI air, 15 & 28mmmm Great War & a demo of the new Frostgrave game from Northstar to name but a few.
Purchases were few today as I just bought a couple of packs of bases, a 28mm vineyard & a couple of KR boxes from Lesleysbitsbox.
A cracking weekend really!
