Dave has recently advised me that, as the 'lucky' winner of last years Battlemasters tournament and the mighty Dragon on a Dog Turd trophy, that it is my responsibility to organise this years tournament. Chris is over the moon - she can't wait to get that bloody trophy out of the lounge - so far be it for me to wait a moment longer.
Unless absolutely nobody is interested, this year's tournament will be Dreadball. It's a nice little sci-fi themed sports game where a game can be played in about an hour, even with two novices playing. It's said to be a simplified Bloodbowl, but it's more like full contact Basketball with body armour.
Depending on the amount of interested players, I would create 3-4 mini-leagues of 3 players, with each team playing each other once. The top six teams would then go onto a final of Ultimate Dreadball - a 6-player final game where everyone plays on the same pitch. This means that even if you win the whole thing you should only be signing up for three games over a period of a couple of months, and they'll be short enough that you can still play your normal games afterwards.
I will have four teams for people to use, and can also provide a pitch every week. Bloodbowl models are allowed as well, as long as there are enough different poses/creatures to fit Dreadball's three types of player. I will be on hand to walk people through how the game works i.e. desperately looking through the rulebook because I can't remember anything.
If the club notice board makes a re-appearance anytime soon I will put a sign-up sheet on it over the next few weeks to get an idea if anyone's interested.
