I believe Wargamer in Great Barr is on the 2nd December this year?

Wargamer was OK yesterday. It was a bit disappointing that Grubby tanks & Fieldworks weren't there, but those are just my usual go to places really.
Great to see them incorporate "normal gaming folk" with trade stands. Our very own Mr. Webster was there selling his wares!
This laser cut wood seems to be the in thing this year & there were some very, very good 15mm buildings that seem to be worth a go?
Although there appeared to be more demo games this year they all looked a bit samey. Not that they weren't very nice, but nothing stood out. Well except for the one game that was there that could try harder!
I haven't been to many shows this year so it was good to get out & have a look what's going on.

Discounting Expo, I think this was only the second wargames show I got to this year (the other being NotAlumwell), in fact probably only the third in two years!
I do tend to find these smaller shows a bit of an anachronism in this day and age, eBay and better online shopping does seem to have steadily trimmed off the bottom end of the show circuit something I was noticing back in the days when we still ran Warfayre at Halesowen (the latter ones at least).
B&B was small, but then the guy who runs Wargamer does the tabletop sales so perhaps that is the way that the old "clear the closet out" thing is going which is perhaps no bad thing as it raises the quality of what is on offer (no more dumping of boxes of VHS cassettes on the B&B for example). For the record I believe it was £45 for a table (according to a post on the October clubs facebook page), which certainly makes splitting the table fee with a mate an attractive idea for clearing stuff out as you'd only have to clear £22.50 each to start turning a profit.
However, despite the negativity I usually display with these small shows where the entry fee and petrol costs makes it a bit of a gamble as to whether it's worth it or not, I did manage to get the ECW scenario book from Caliver that includes the Battle of Tipton Green which also mentions an advance guard clash on Pensnett Chase (wherever that was...). Who's up for that some time then? It's predominatly a cavalry clash delaying action where the Parliamentarians try to evacute their artillery train.
I believe something similar may have occured on the same ground during the VBCW!
