Cheers for the link Owen.
The good news is I already have 2 units of Chaos ready for action & could probably squeeze another one in for 500 points.
I really like the multiplayer game on the final page with the Trusted/Distrusted allies rule. A nice touch.

I checked the points of the complete Goblin force from Skull Pass and it worked out to be 504 if the Shaman was upgraded a level, and then noticed that there was actually another 20-strong unit of Night Goblins with spears that I wasn't aware of! That makes the entire Goblin army 604 plus whatever magical items are taken.

It's quite surprising how the points mount up so quickly with War hammer Fantasy. Over 600 points for Night Goblins isn't a bad start at all & of course gives you an ideal Border Patrol force. I'm sure Antony's Dwarfs are also a similar points value?
In anticipation I've even worked out a quick Border Patrol army for my mighty Army of Horne (or possibly Quern for the vegetarian Chaos contingent!?). With a Hero, 2 units of rock bottom priced Warriors & 2 units of Hounds it means I get the grand total of 31 figures. I just need to buy & paint the rest of them!!

Clearly the Blood God was not impressed with my vegetarian joke & sent the Chaos gremlins to scupper my spell checker!!

Well I have a complete unit of 20 Night Goblin spearmen painted, just needs some groundworking. 20 figures done and I didn't even get the box set home until Saturday tea-time! I might chase up another 10 or so from eBay as the maximum unit is 25 in Border Patrol and it looks like the Goblins desperately need to outnumber the enemy and get as many rank bonuses as possible. For the record the base colour is a new Citadel Foundation Paint called Naked Plastic Grey. Covers excellently in no time at all

Now I am very much interested in this. I probably have just enough points of Skaven made up to give this a go at some point. I have no Hero or Lord though, except a Plague Priest on a Plague Furnace which costs 250 points, which rather takes it outside of the rules of Border Patrol. Skaven also don't do very well in units of less than 30. Would be interested in learning the rules though, as I haven't played yet.

I wouldn't worry about not having a Hero for your Skaven Adam. I'm sure the Evil Empire (TM) would be furious with you for not having the correct figures, but we don't give a toss! If you just nominate a figure as a Hero then that's probably as easy as anything. Then if you do enjoy the game you can buy one!
I would imagine that a fair few races in Warhammer Fantasy would struggle to get anything other than the cheapest available Hero for Border Patrol? I suspect most Border Patrol armies will be commarnded by a rubbish magic user?
Chaos would also do well in units of 25, but I'd only have one then which would be a bit dull!
I too really like the idea of Border Patrol. Restricting the use of Lords is an excellent idea, although necessary as most are in excess of 500 points anyway!

Night Goblins don't do very well in small units either, especially with their mighty Ld5. At least you can beef them up a bit with nets and 3 hidden Goblin Ball-and-Chain fanatics a unit.
Basically this has come about because 40K CP went down so well so that Webby asked me on Friday about Border Patrol, as in "had I heard of it" and "have I any figures for it", answers to which were yes and no respectively.
Had a look at the Skull Pass box set contents on t'internet when I got in on Friday night/Saturday morning, decided that 2 500+ point armies for £50 and the small form rulebook was worth having even though the Dwarfs would be destined for WMMS bring-and-buy. Went to GW in the Bull Ring, straight to Waylands with the box under my arm, mentioned that I wasn't keeping the Dwarfs, Antony immediately gave me £15 for them. This of course, as Scott pointed out, means that Scott, Tom and Antony all have Warhammer armies and somebody else doesn't...
I believe that Webby and Phil are buying two boxes to split between them so hopefully in a couple of months there should be enough Warhammer Army-age to get up a night of Border Patrol and see if it goes down as well as the 40K version.

A quick me too here. Phil's flogging his Daemons to me. Seems to be mostly Khornate & Nurglish and should easily do a patrol in either flavour.

Here's the first regiment sorted. Painted in a day as the grey is the grey of the plastic! 20 figures in one day, just needed groundworking this evening.

They really do look great Owen & I must to convert to this dipping malarkey!
Just goes to show that keeping it simple can have some fantastic results.
I myself have spent a mere 2 1/2 hours this evening cobbling together a Valkia the Bloody (as GW don't make one yet). This is good as it's £35 I won't have to fork out later!
It's mostly chopped up Heroclix figures with a few leftovers from my Chaos stuff & some things that just turned up in my bits box. It looks OK & I just need one or two more items from GW to finish it off.

I might have to get me Deathmaster Snitch as my Hero, mainly because I want him anyway! Matt also has Skull Pass, and is on about buying some Lizardmen. I'd say that come the summer three or four of our lot would be interested in a bit of Border Patrol.
