To be fair if we'd got into Warhammer back when 7th was released by now we'd all be going "great, that's an new edition to tighten up the rules and cope with some of the broken stuff".
As it happens it seems annoying because collectively we only decided to start Warhammering last Tuesday.
I'm now hearing that the included armies will be High Elves and Skaven, so if anyone fancies a cheap Skaven army (Adam) I will probably flog the ratmen off for about £15 when I get the box, which is the amount Antony gave me for the BSP Dwarves. I've already got one hoard army (Goblinses) so won't be collecting another.

If the new box set ends up including Skaven then I'll be more than happy to pay up and take them. Clanrats don't work in units of less than 40 anyway.

Any thoughts so far, apart from fast running dwarfs

Web & Phil had a game using the new rules & it seemed to go quite well. I believe there were at least a couple of instances of units charging 18" or so.
From what they've told me aside from charge distance, movement has also changed. Not entirely sure how though?
Dispel dice & Magical Resistance has also changed. Instead of getting a set "pool" the player who's magic phase it is rolls 2d6. They get that many magic dice & the opponent gets the highest single dice score as dispel dice.
There are also more ranks that can attack. You also get a rank bonus for 10 figures wide. Good way to try & sell more!
There are probably other changes which Ash can tell us about (I think he may be the only person who uses the forum regularly to have a copy yet!?).
One question I would need to know is how does Frenzy work now with regards to charging?
I'll undoubtedly buy a copy sometime in the future? I'd have to read them thoroughly, but at a glance they look like great improvements for a Khorne army with massive charge distances, more attacks & more dispel dice!!
Blood for the Blood God.

I had a flip through Web's rulebook and it didn't appear that movement had changed. You can still move straight forwards, wheel or do a reform whereby you can adopt whatever formation you like so long as no model moves more than twice it's M. No sign of the War of The Ring/Black Powder movement approach.
Figures are removed from the back in melee, so lower I troops no longer risk the entire front rank going before being able to strike. I'm sure a lot of people just played like this anyway.
Hand Weapon and Shield was a +1 to save in the old edition, a Saving Throw which was modified by enemy S. This is now a second "Save on 6" save which is not modified by enemy S. This, along with the 10 wide bonus, has me planning a 40/50 strong Night Goblin with Hand Weapon/Shield unit.
Missiles now fire in two ranks. I'm unsure whether this is a big swinging change or not, it might just mean that single ranked missile troops now get fielded in two ranks and makes little difference to the game.

Goblins with shields and nets could be frighteningly cost effective, as spears get to fight in two ranks so a spear horde 10 wide gets 40 attacks, that's going to bounce a lot of things. (assuming gobbo's can have spears)

OK, I'm still working my way through this "mighty tome", a quick skim it looks that Owen has most of it covered in his post. Bits I have noted so far are: 1/ You can now measure ranges etc. 2/ Charge distances are calculated by rolling 2d6+ the unit/models M allowance. 3/ Magic. The player whose turn it is now rolls 2d6 for the "Winds of Magic", the total is the amount of dice that the player has available to cast spells with that turn. The "dispelling" player has the total number of dice equal to the highest die rolled for the "Winds of Magic". Only got that far into the rules so far but if I find anything more I'll post it up.

Steve's right that Gobbo's will be tough to shift, particularly if Fanatics are also present.
40 attacks, that's 5 Chaos Warriors or 80 Chaos Marauders!!

Those figures look very nice, with the recent pink horrors, space hulk & those elves the sculpting has gone back to be top of the industry

Have to concur with my esteemed colleague that the new GW stuff is excellent.
Last time I went into GW they said there would be no preview of the boxed set until the day of the early release for pre-orders in August!
I think I said that's rubbish or something similar!?

I went into GW Merry Hill yesterday to get a couple of pots of paint and they showed me the sprues of the new Daemon Prince and the Seekers. The detail on the Seekers is truely exquisite, the hair down the length of the steeds body is really fine and should paint up well for the artists amongst us (I'll just do my usual bodge job). The Daemon Prince is a quality piece of kit too, choice of several bodies and head combos available, and although I'm not 100% there may be enough bits left over in one kit to "create" another daemon. These two new additions do actually look very good value for money (Never thought I would say something like that for a GW product other than the paint !)

£20 seems OK for a Daemon Prince, considering what they could have come up with.
If you could cobble some legs together you probably could do a 2nd figure, then you'd get even more value for money.
The Seekers also look good value with 5 for £15. What's happening at GW, have they gone mad!!?
